We trust in the Lord for His comfort and care for the congregation of West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas. Please pray for the loved ones of two congregants, Anton “Tony” Wallace and Richard “Rich” White, who were murdered during Sunday services by a man with a criminal record and a shotgun.
Thankfully, an unidentified security officer and a congregant, Jack Wilson, a firearms instructor and the head of church security, both reacted quickly and eliminated the threat within seconds.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton commended the preparedness of the church and its security team as “the model for what other churches and other places of business need to focus on.”
This shooting comes just two years after a shooter at another Texas church, First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, took the lives of twenty-six congregants and injured twenty more. In the wake of this tragedy, churches around the nation became more aware of the need to protect their congregations and prepare safety plans for any eventuality.
The National Center for Life and Liberty exists to protect our religious rights, defend the defenseless, and strengthen churches and other Christian organizations to minimize liability and maximize ministry.
