Yale University (which takes in more than half-a-billion dollars of taxpayer funds) recently declared it would actively withhold school resources for students who work for certain faith-based organizations. By selectively targeting religious students with special disfavor, Yale would violate its own anti-discrimination policies and break federal civil rights law.
On Fox News Channel’s feature Night Court with Shannon Bream, Attorney Gibbs swiftly defended the right of Christian students to receive the same access to funds available to their classmates for work programs. After negative national attention uncovered Yale’s plans to brazenly discriminate against Christians and other students of faith, the school’s public relations team claimed an exemption to “religious organizations.” We’ll see which stated version of Yale’s new policy actually unfolds.
In the meantime, the NCLL will remain on guard against similar threats to Christian students from other institutions.
